CLASSES

 

I offer 1 and 1 1/2 hour private lessons teach any student ages 8-18. The goal of this program is to expose students to a larger variety of materials and processes than offered at most schools to develop possibilities and love of art. High school students looking to go to art school or apply for art scholarships I recommend the 1 1/2 hour class so time can be spent working on portfolios and artist statements in addition to new projects.

 

If the price is a barrier for you child please contact me or mention so in the intro questionaire. The cost is on a sliding scale in order to make art and art school more accessible.

 

Students in Bridgeport automatically have their costs lowered. Bridgeport is a beautiful and diverse neighborhood that deserves to improve individual and community prosperity but safety and economic growth creates the potential consequences of gentrification. The balance we need to maintain is improvement for the people that already live here with prices that will not push them out. This relies on not raising prices or bringing in expensive businesses for the people already living in that community until local wage increases have caught up.

 

Each lesson is tailored to the specific student. I start with a mixed media or interdisciplinary approach and try to introduce new materials to promote exploration and new forms of creativity. I try to bring the focus from the final product to developing a process and practice. There is no right way to make art or express yourself so my goal is to help that grow in individuals and find their own methods of creating.
